Auckland, This Day. r. Seahorse, which has been purchased for e S. H. Gollan, will probably leave for England early. The price is not stated. The Shetland Island Fatality. Dunedin, This Day. £206 has been collected by tne Coma mittee for widows and orphans of the men who perished in the storm in the Shetland Islands. t The Sixth Contingent. 3 Wellington, July 22. , The Premier received a cable from , Colonel Banks stating that the Sixth Contingent arrived at Bloemfontein all well. The Okarito Wreckage. L There is anxiety in the city, and it is ) accentuated by the discovery of wreckage I at Okarito, on the West Coast of tho I ■ other island, concerning the whereabouts ' , of the barque G. M. Tucker. The vessel was out from Newcastle exactly a month on Saturday, laden with coal, under the command of Captain Oliver, who at one time was in the service of the Union Co, The G. M. JTucker is well known in Wellington Harbor. It was the intention of the owner to have sent her to Auckland after this trip to be converted into a hulk. Barque Safe. The barque G. M. Tucker, concerning which anxiety was felt, is now coming up the harbor. Death of Sew Hoy. Dunedin, July 22. Sew Hoy, the well-known Chinese merchant, died suddenly this afternoon. Arbitration Court. Wellington, This Day. Several cases of a breach of the award were before the Arbitration Court this morning. In one of them—R. D. Benge —a butcher, was lined £1 for employing a non-unionist in his business. Christian Endeavor Society. At the sitting of the New Zealand ' Christian Endeavor Convention this morning, reports showed the total ! membership .to be 7,645 and 215 societies, one of which supports seventeen native teachers. Fifteen members had joined 1 the Ministry. ] The following officers were electedj President, Rev. Hugh Kelly, (Auckland); - Vice-Presidents, Revs Erwin, and Dal- ( laston, and Treasurer, T. Sims. A letter was read from Dr. Clark, the founder of the movement, expressing 1 a hope that he would bo able to visit the i colony. s It was decided that a deputation wait 1 on the Premier and urge him to re-intro- 1 duce the bill dealing with opium importation. t It was resolved to support the Auck- I land invitation to Sankey.
It was agreed to affiliate - with the Australian Christian Endeavour Union.
