Many persons are forwarding condolence to Kruger who is also greatly upset by the Reitz-Steyn revelations. Three Boers were killed at Honingspruit and 12 wounded. Commandant Hattring was captured. London, July 22. The Boers captured 17 South African Constabulary near Petursburg. The Orange River Population. Out of a total of the , Orange Eiver population of 75,000 ten thousand are prisoners, 25,000 in refugee camps, 17,000 living in towns held by the British, and 13,000 are still at large* Peace Plebiscite. The “ Standard ” referring to the possibility of a Boer plebiscite being taken on the question of peace, says, that if the leaders act and the plebiscite Is granted, it most necessarily include the Boers now in British hands whose verdict would undoubtedly be a prepondering one.
