THE RETURNED TROOPERS.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Nelson, This Day.
Fifteen returned troopers by the Tagus returned this morning. Though there was a drizzling rain, there was a very large and enthusiastic attendance. The city streets were decorated with art muslin and bunting.
The troopers were met by the Mayor and committee, and were heartily web corned amid the cheers of those assembled and mounted on horses specially provided, and formed a procession to the Cathedral stops, where a short religious service was held, and speeches of welcome and praise were delivered. They were afterwards entertained at an informal luucheon. This evening a concert will be given in the men’s honour, and to-morrow they are invited to the Athletic and Cycling Club’s annual ball.
Auckland, This Day,
The returned troopers were accorded an enthusiastic reception. The streets thronged and cheered them as they marched through headed by the band and mounted escort and were entertained at luncheon.
