Yiljoen’s Dash.
Fourie Degraded.
De Wet Twice Wounded
Received this day at 9 19 a.m. London, July 15. Viljoen’s dash at the North Middleburg railway is believed to have been undertaken for the purpose of replenishing his ammunition.
. Burrick is at Dontspanberg with De Larey.
De Wet has degraded Piet Fourie for deiiring to surrender, and has appointed Kolbe commandant in succession. Coetzee has been executed.
. Lieut-General Baden-Powell’s return is due to over work and an attack of fever.
Kruger openly palliates the shooting of the wounded, alleging retaliation for the barbarous ill-treatment of women and children, and the execution of rebels. By a sudden feint, Commandant Scobell’s and three other columns were conveyed to Candaboo, and they capture d a laager, 31 prisoners (mostly rebels), Scheeper’s Adjutant Liebentre, Lieut. Luy, 25 rifles, ammunition, stores, and 36 horses. Scheeper’s and the main body escaped by precipitous paths.
A Boer Doctor admitted that De Wet was twice wounded at Lindley.
