At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, Eamsay, representing the Oceanic Steamship Company, read a paper on the advantages of direct mail service between Brisbane and ’Frisco. The mail would be delivered in London in 28 days and Queensland be enabled to command a large share of the American trade. It was not the intention to offer the service to the Government, but for the people to consider whether it was worth while to follow the project up.
