MORGAN’S SHIPPING TRUST.
It was announced by cable on Saturday that Mr Pierpont Morgan’s trust has purchased the Northern Pacific Company’s vessels, with which to fight the Ham-burg-American lino in the Oriental trade. Mr Morgan’s vessels in the Atlantic service will (-ays a contompcr<»r\) bo fitted up in the American s’ylc, and, it is asserted, will excel any king that has yet been seen on our waters. The official who will be responsible for the carrying out of Mr Morgan’s orders says that two boats, the plan of which he has scon, will be five day vessels, and will carry firstclass passengers only. Single cabins will bo dispensed with, and suites, of appartments substituted. These will bo richly furnished, and the public rooms will bo decorated by famous artists. Small tables will take the place of long ones ; a dairy will bo maintained on board, hens will provide eggs, high-class artists will entertain audiences nightly in a cafe chantant, and a theatre supper will follow each performance. There wll bo a gymnasium a large library, a sun room, a fully stocked conservatory to provide fresh flowers daily, a skilled medical staff, readers, stenographers, manicurs, masseurs, and special rooms for dogs, which will be housed as befi.9 the pets of plutocrats.
