(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Warship's Movements. Wellington, This Day. The H.M.S. Sparrow sailed to-day for Sydney. Queen's Memorial. The Queen's statue fund at Wellington now amounts, to £1,609 18s. Shooting Accident. Nelson, This Day. William Harvey (senr.), settler at Pig Bay, near the French Pass, was found dead near his home yesterday. He had gone out with his dogs and gun on Sunday for the purpose, it is supposed, of pig hunting. He had a gun wound in his breast. The gun was lying beside him. His age is about 47 year?, and he leaves a widow children. Accident to the Botoiti. New Plymouth, July 3. The Rotoiti met with an accident to her rudder bearings on the trip here from the south and will be beached tomorrow for repairs. She is therefore unable to make the trip to Auckland tonight and will now wait for the outward 'Frisco mail to-morrow at midnight. The Auckland Fire Inquest. Auckland, This Day. The Grand Hotel inquest was resumed this morning. Jessie Minns when being re-examined, it was elicited that she had been unable to sleep at nights for the last six years, and was accustomed to read till two in the mornings. She often fell asleep in a hot bath. Major Madocks Holiday. Wellington, June 4. Major Madocks term of Office as Staff Officer to tho Commandant, expires in October. He has been granted three months leave of absence, and leaves for England next week. Maori Councils. A conference of representatives of the Maori district councils will be held in Wellington shortly. Snow Fall. Wanganci, This Day. The heaviest fall of snow for forty years occurred this morning, lastiug upwards of an hour. The hills round town were covered.
