" ANDREW MATHESON, Mayor -j of the Borough of Greymouth, hereby give public notice that a POLL of the RATEPAYERS will be taken on the following proposal, viz.—That it is proposed by the Council to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £6,500. The particulars of the undertaking, and the sum proposed to be borrowed are set forth in the following schedule : Town Hall £4,000 Gas Holder 1,500 Excess of Appropriation for purchase of Gas Works ... 1,000 £6,500 It is intended to pledge as security for the said loan : (1.) The rents and Profits from the Town Hall and Gas Works. (2.) An annual recurring rate of ($) one-third of a penny in the £ on the capital value of the rateable property in the Borough. It is further publicly notified that the said Poll will be taken at the temporary offices of the Council, Mackay street, and at the Stato School, Tainui street, Greymouth, on WEDNESDAY, the 10th day of JULY, 1901, commencing at 9 o'clock a.m. and closing at 7 o'clock p.m. Dated at Greymouth this 2nd day of July, 1901. . The sites to be submitted are as follows: — (a) A portion of Boundary street to be acquired by special order, and £IOO cash to be paid to Mr Flanagan, for frontage rights. Area, two (2) roods, thirteen (13) perches. (b) Half of the Church of England Reserve, Mackay street, to be acquired from the Church Trustees by purchase for £SOO, and rent free for 17 years. Area, three (3) roods and four (4) perches.
