During the hearing of the printers’ machinest’s dispute to-day, it was arranged that representatives of the employers and Union should hold a conference in the morning regarding the minimum wage demands, it being indicated that certain proposals would be made which employees might accept. Royal Visit Committees. Christchurch, July Ist. The Royal visit sub-committees met today to close accounts. All reported satisfactorily. The General Executive Committee reported the financial result to be 22.1 per cent under the estimated cost. They voted £IOO to the secretary and a bonus of seven guineas to Mr Dobson, City Surveyor, over and above payment for the plans and undertook to make good all damage to the Domain, Victoria Square and city streets caused by the work of erecting decorations. Dehorning Cattle. Wellington, July 1. The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to animals to-day decided to urge upon the Government to pass an Act forbidding dehorning of cattle.
