GOLD DREDGING.
Ahaoba —This dredge is at present working on 15 feet of wash, and is believed I to be on the bar. It is anticipated that the wash will soon deepen to about 30 feet, when good gold will bo obtained. Iho ladder of the dredge is capable of drudging to a depth of 50 feet. Erickson’s Reward— This dredge was at first hampered on account of the smallthe dam, but has now plenty of ■Boom. She has struck a lot of timber, she is gradually working clear of. depth of wash is 82 feet, and the of the bucket ladder is 40 feet. A'l the machinery ■' is on the ground and the dredge is expected to got a start in six weeks time. Watbrson’s Consols— Tho pontoons have bean launched some time. The machinery is well advanced and a start is expected in about three months. — Pontoons, exceTently bijtilt by Mr Erickson, will be launched this w'iek into the dam just completed. The machinery is about completed, and it is hoped that the drgdge will be turning in two months. This dredge is the largest •J in "Nelson Creek, being capable of dredgJ ing 40 feet, and is possessed of very machinery. I Messrs Bauche and Donoghue have I- secured the contract for excavating the ■ dam for the Commissioners’ Flat Gold *1 Dredging Co, at Katiieri. I Messrs McDonald Bros., contractors f for building the pontoons for the Greenstone Gold Dredging Company, finished their contract on Saturday afternoon. The boring on the Auckland Syndicate claim, in the Teremakau, is finished and the prospects appear to be satisfactory. Two bore holes in the claim held by Messrs E. Davidson and W. Passmore hare given returns that are considered tip top. At this rate we will shortly see two more dredges winning gold on the * v ~Teremakau. Perry’s Reward Coy —The dredge is still only working one day shift, as the dredgoraaster is experiencing great difficulty in getting a face opened outside the dam which is constructed too small to
enable thojdredgo to turn round. It lias now been decided to extend the excavatkm bv mlnual labour, which will take * ankihOT'week- or so to complete, after this is-dtfifc three shifts will be put on and dredging in earnest begun. \
