AUCKLAND LAND SETTLEMENT.

Auckland, June 26

A meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and the Auckland members t£ Parliament, prior to the opening of the session took place to-day. The questions of land settlement in the Auckland province, railway extension and 'Frisco mail service were discussed ; also the question of placing the Manakau harbour under the Auckland Harbour Board as a preliminary to the construction of the Auckland Manakau Canal. On these matters there was general agreement.

An amendment in the Arbitration Act limiting the powers of the Court in regard to the production of employer's books and amendments in the Workmens' Compensation Act were also suggested but no resolutions were proposed.
