GOLD DREDGING.

Erickson & Ahauea. — The Erickson's Reward and the Ahaura Eiver Companies dredges are running smoothly. Oewell Cekkk. —Good progress is " being made with the erection of the machinery on thu Orwell Creek Company’s dredge, and two months should see the trial run.

Staffoed-Waimea.— Mr J, Cameron is making good progress with the cartage of the machinery for the Stafford-Waimea G.I). Company. The contractors are also pushing on with the work of building the pontoons.

Mokoia, well, and, considering the quantity of drift travelling, the returns have been quite satisfactory, and will improve in a few weeks’ time. Hau Hau. —lt has been necessary to build pontoons on each side of the Hau Hau dredge. Thebe Mils Geeenbtonh.—This dredge is still busy opening out. The machinery, is working splendidly. In another week solid ground should be reached and the dredge 'turned up stream. The dredge at present is lifting some fair-sized boulders, some up to half a ton in weight.

Kocklands.— The Eoeklands dredge is practically .safe from the floods, but has done.yory little work on account, it is said, of the machinery running very •badly. (The company have been making arrangements to increase their capital. This seems to be the work of nearly every company, and is very depressing to the market. Progress Reports. The Engineer for the undermentioned dredges reports as follows Duke of Wellington, —Pontoons finished. Machinery is fairly well forward, but nothing of it has been sent on yet. Engine, winch, and pump have arrived, and are in store. Garibaldi, —Pontoons finished. Machinery is well forward, but none of. it; has been despatched yet. Arrangements have been made for .cartage to .claim. Engine, winch, and pump are to hand, and in store.
