BRUNNER COAL MINES
(To the Editor.) Sib, —In this morning's "Argus" the Editor in a leader discusses the relative merits of Denniston and Blackball Coal Mines in respect of wages. In regard to that discussion I offer no opinion as it at present concerns me not, but I do take exception to your contemporary stating "that it is not easy io see why the miners and other workers at Blackball and Brunnerton should not have the same scale of pay as the minors of Denniston. It is contended that the Denniston miners are paid 20 per cent higher rate than the Blackball coal mine ere." The implication contained thercoa is that Bcunner miners are paid 20 per cent less than Denniston which is not correct. It therefore seems unfair to raise discontent where none exists, especially when I inform your contemporary that the Brunner miners are and have been working on a soale of wages registered under the Conoilation and Arbitration Aot. Bobbrt Allison.
