The Mad Mullah, failing to capture the British zareba at Somala, retreated to Welahed, where he encountered the main British force by chance. The fourth camel corps and infantry attacked and routed him, and pursued him during the night through the mountains, killing a hundred of the Mullah's followers. The British had two killed and five wounded.
