Shipwrights’ Strike

Sydney, June 20.

Acting in sympathy with tho iron trade strikers, 700 shipwrights, dockers and painters have struck at Mort’s dock today. A Question of Salary. Melbourne, June 20. A long debate took place in the Federal House as to whether Ministers should take tho £4OO a year provided in the Constitution as a member’s allowance in addition to salaries. It has been the custom in tho States to forego the allowance when taking a salary attached to the office.

By 30 to 22 it was agreed that Ministers take the allowance.
