Fatal Accident. Wellington, This Day. Walter Pennington, a visitor from Feathcrston, was run over by a cab yesterday, and died in the hospital during the night. Death under Chloroform. Auckland, This Day. At an inquest on the sailor White, who died under ch'oroform, the medical evidence showed that he had an attack of paralysis of the heart caused by the patient’s struggling. The organs were sound, and there were no signs of chloroform suffocation. A verdict was accordingly returned. Burglary. Stratford, This Day. A burglary was attempted hero last night. Smart Bros., tinsmiths, had their office burst into, and the safe was carried away into the railway yard, where vigorous attempts to open it failed. The safe contained £3 in cash and £IOO in cheques.
