QUARTZ MINING REPORTS.

These are the reports for the month of May for the undermentioned quartz claims:— Wealth of Nations —During the month 1033 tons of quartz were crushed, 3'ielding 3560zs 12dwt Sgrs, valued at £1465 2s 2d. Six and a half tons of concentrates were produced and 550 tons of coarse sand were cyanicled, the latter yielding bullion to the value of £572 10s lid. , Stoping was carried on in Nos. 3, 4,5, and 6 levels. No 6 level was advanced 52 feet during the month, and No. 5 raised 21 feet.

Peoueess Mines— Sloping was carried on in a general way throughout the mine from No 2 to No 9 level, and developement work on levels Nos 3, 8 and 9. The total quantity of rock mined was 4082 tons and 4682 tons were transported to the battery and crushed, yielding 16540zs 6dwt 6grs gold valued at £6854 15s 9d Eighty-five tons of concentrates were chlorinated, yielding gold to the value of £965 10s 8d ; 1100 tons of accumulated tailings were elevated and concentrated, yielding six tons of concern trates and bullion to the value of £421 11s 7d. The development work in the mine amounted to 144 feet of driving and cross cutting and 33 feet of sinking. The level to the old original Globe shaft has been repaired for a distance of 69 feet for the month.

Golden Fleece —During the month stoping was carried on in levels Nos 6 and 7. No 6 level has been re-timbered and re-graded for 92 feet, and the “Perseverance” tunnel cleaned out for a distance of 35 feet. The contractors have commenced sinking the shaft; total depth to be sunk 150 feet. The mill crushed 1,359 tons of quartz, producing 7230zs 17dwts 12grs of bullion, valued at £2,859 6s 2d. Nine hundred and ten tons Were cyanided, yielding bullion to to the value of £483 13s lOd. The total developement work amouuts to 102 feet.
