CENSUS RETURNS.

Wellington, June 15. The official census returns of four cities give Auckland 67,232. Wellington—43,sß6, with suburbs, 49,292. Christchurch—l7,s37, with suburbs, 57.037. Dunedin—24,Bß6, with suburbs, 52,398. Percentage of increase:—Wellington, 18‘04 per cent; Auckland, 16’6; Christchurch, 1T02; Dunedin, 10 - 82, It is claimed that Petone should be included in the Wellington suburbs, which would give a total of nearly 54,000, but the Registrar declines to do this, though equally distant boroughs are included in other towns.
