A WAIL PROM THREADNEEDLE STREET.
(To the Editor)
Oh ! all yc Borough Councillors, Who walk about at ease, Think of we poor Throadneedleites With mud up to our knees.
A path is wanted very much, We don't care on which side, Nor arc we very particular Whether it's narrow or wide.
As long as our wives and little ones Can manage to walk the street Without their clothes all daubed with mud And foot gear clean and neat.
The lads and pretty lasses too, And they are here galore, Must tuck their skirts and trousers up ; Oh! Isn't it a bore ?
So now, ye gentle Councillors, Make us a path straightway. And all we poor Threadneedleites For you will ever pray.
SCRIBBI/EK,
Threadneedle Street,
