At a meeting of the Waiapa Licensing Branch to-day, Sergeant Siddelb presented} a detailed report on every house in i he district. He complained that in outlyirig houses little ■/
attention was paid to the comfort of travellers, the sale of drink being first and the only object. He urged that in quite a number of places better houses should be insisted on, and remarked that the common thing here of licensed houses that are unworthy of the name, is the changing of hands, and a large sum being paid for the goodwill. If the goodwill is worth such a lot, tbe least the public can expect is that a decent house should be provided.
