QUARTZ MINING.

The manager of the New Scotia reports that the reef had been struck in No 1 level. The stone is about Ift 6 inches wide and the gold looks to bo of a very good sample. The contractors at the Big River mine have driven No 6 level 9ft for the week. Total distance driven being 75 feet. There is no change in the nature of the ground.
