(per press association.—copyright) Outbreak of Smallpox. Received this day at 917 am. Sydney, June 4.
The Health Authorities are unable to trace the source of contagion of a woman who was found to be suffering from smallpox. She resided at North Sydney and was removed to the Coast hospital under the assumption that she was suffering from scarlet fever. An impression is growing, despite the opinion of the Board of Health to the contrary, that the outbreak of smallpox is due to the premature release of the AustralianChina Contingent. The men brought a quantity of loot which may have carried the germs. Oil in bulk. . Melboeene, June 3. Arrived, Monowai and steamer Turbo from Batoum with the first shipment of oil in bulk, amounting to five thousand tons. Tyson’s Estate, Beisbane, This Day. The Chief Justice sanctioned the sale of Felton estate, one of the late Tyson’s properties to Greenaway, of Glenoroua, Manawatua.
