Debate on Hudson Appointment. Received this day at 9.(55 am. Hor.AiiT, This Day.
In the LcgisTativo Assembly Patterson moved an adjournment of the House to complain ot the appointment of Hudson as General Manager of Railways. Ho considered the appointment of a New Zealander an injustice to the local claimant for the position. After a lengthy discussion in which the majority of speakers condemning appointment, the motion was withdrawn by Patterson. Patterson subsequently moved that the action of the Government in overlooking the claims of Me Oormack as GeneralManager did not meet with the approval of the House. The Ministers accepted this-as a motion of want of confidence and the House adjourned till to-morrow.
