London, May 27. Lord Kitchener reports that Boers in superior numbers determinedly attacked a convoy between Ventersdorp and Hotchefstroom on Thursday, but wore repulsed. ' Four British were killed and thirty wounded.
The convoy arrived safely. A Beuter correspondent, states that there is a consensus of opinion amongst the Boer prisoners and s'irrenderers that the recent surrenders are chiefly the result Of the arrival of British reinforcements.
The Boors imagined that the British re sources were exhausted.
Major Wilson and a portion of Kitch - ener's scouts had six casualties in making a frontal attack on Beyer's commando at Nystroom. Two columns were sent round to attack the rear and arrived when the last of Beyer's convoy was retreating.
A stubborn rearguard fight ensued, and eighteen Boers, forty wagons, and a quantity of ammunition and cattle were captured,
