TOWN HALL SITE.

[To the Editor). Sir,—l cannot believe for one moment there can be a gentleman Councillor sitting in that Council Chamber advocating for a site for a new Town Hall on Maori reserve ; as for so doing he will cause an everlasting unnecessary expense to the ratepayers, especially as they have got two places to choose from, one freehold ground, namely, the site in Boundary street, and the old Town Hall and the two sections adjoining. By putting these three sections together this will give you a lockbof land 100 x 100 feet, that is to say 100 feet frontage by 100 feet back. That will be equally as big a block of ground as the Harbor Board have got. So when you are voting for a site for the new Town Hall don’t make a mistake, remember the freehold land is the best. Wm. Wilson. Gresson Street.

[According to our correspondent’s views, we fear there are Councillors who cannot be called “gentlemen." This is decidedly rough on them. Mr WiisOn can, however, rest assured that the question of site will be submitted to the ratepayers.—Ed., E. S.j
