ST JOHN'S PRESBYTERIAN SABBATH SCHOOL.

30th Anniversary,

The church was very nicely decorated, and reflected great credit on the decorators. There was a large attendance, and it was a pretty sight to see the children, about 70, who were taking part in the musical programme. All the items went of splendidly. The chairman, Rev Stewart, in a few words welcomed the people. He was pleased to see so many present. The entainment reflected great credit upon tho teachers. The school, he saibl, was a credit to the town.

The Superintendent, Mr James Ring, spoke on the work of the school. There were 181 names on the roll with a staff of 18 teachers, secretary, librarian and assistant. Forty children did good work at the Sunday School examination, six pupils gaining 100 per cent, 23 gained first prize for Bible Knowledge, 20 first prizes for Catechism. He thanked tho teachers for their support in the work Ho was pleased to say that some of tho pupils who had left Greymouth and gone to other parts of the colonies were doing good work there. Before closing the Rev. R. Stewart proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to the teachers and superintendent for tho very excellent [entertainment, which he thought was one of | the best ever given. The programme was as follows :—Opening prayer, Rev. Stewart; chorus, "All Hail Mighty Saviour " ; chorus for boys, " Brother at the Threshold Standing " ; recitation, "The Few Magdalene," Mr Bradley; Chairman's address ; quartette and chorus, Mrs T. Brown, Miss Blair, Messrs Stark and Blair; solo, Miss Lottie Guthrie; recitation, Miss C. M'Pherson; chorus (boys and girls), " Jesus at the Door; " vi Dlin duet, Miss and Master Moss; recitation, " Storm at Samoa," Master Leslie King ; solo and chorus, " I Wonder if There's Room," Maggie M'Meekin and Willie Stewart; recitation, "The White Rose," Mr Wise; solo, Master Heley ; recitation, Louie Kroening ; solo, Maggie M'Meekin; duet and chorus, " Only a cup of cold water," Louie Kroening; superintendent's report; duet and chorus, " Chime on ;" quar- «* totte and chorus, " City of the Jasper Wall," Miss Blair, Lottie Guthrie, Messrs Smith and Blair; duet and chorus, "Walk to Emmaus," by Jessie and Helen Stewart; chorus, "Reaper;" Benediction.
