Collapse of Bridge -Six man Killed Melbourne, May 15.
The new bridge at Bendigo was being tested with a traction engine and large roller when a section collapsed, lne driver fireman, and four other men including A. E. Boldt, the well known contractor, were killed.
Others buried in the debris escaped with slight injuries. The Salvation Army.
Owing to their continued ill-health, Commandant and Mrs Booth relinquish the Australian command of the Salvation Army in August. Information has been received of the death in London of Colonel Jas. Barker, a pioneer of the army social work in Australia.
The Boyal Yisit. . Brisbane, May 15. The acting Premier regrets the possible alteration of the Yorks arrangements and cause keen disappointment. If the party do come overland it, is proposed to proceed from the railway station to Government House in a closed carriage, board the Government yacht, go down the river, land and tlius be able to carry out the original programme.
