Chamberlain’s Congratulatory Message.
Melbourne 1 May 13,
The Duke of York has received the following cable fr.jin Chamberlain : “ Sincerely thank your Highness for the very kind message. Rejoice with you in the most auspicious inauguration of Parliament of Australia with ceremonies, to the success of which the presence of the Duchess and yourself so greatly contributed. The splendid enthusiasm evolved by your visit marked another important step in the union of the Empire and strikingly demonstrated the loyalty of the Australian people to the throne. The British nation join in earnest wishes for the prosperity of the new Commonwealth and thank your Highness for the elequent expression you have given to their feelings. "
Barton wired to Chamberlain that his message welcoming the Parliament of Australia was received by the members and representatives of the Senate with much gratification,
