SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.

During the twelve months ending 31st March, 1901, the Westport Coal Company shipped to forcigh ports 17,470 tons of coal, being 10.515 tons more than the corresponding period of 1899-1900. A short time ago the steamer Kini ran into the wharf atLyttlotor, doing damage to the extent of 1132. The Harbour Board has decided to make a claim on the Union Company for the amount. The Union Company has inaugurated a fortnightly cargo service between Dunedin and Nelson by means of the Upolu, which will call at intermediate ports.
