TRADES AND LABOR DISPUTES.

Napier, May 13,
The employees of tho two principal firms of painters, numbering about 20 went out on strike this morning, demanding to he paid in accordance with the award of the Conciliation Board in force in Wellington. The masters hold that as Napier employers were not cited when the case came before the Board the award does not apply to them. Christchurch, This Day.
Tho Trades and Labor Council resolved that the Court of Arbitration has failed to give effect to the provisions of the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Act in not fixing a rate of wages for one of tho departments referred to it for settlement in the boot trade dispute, when it was shown to the Court that the wages of those workers were fixed in Australia and America.
