Noumea files report a rebellion amongst the natives of Tonko. The Chief of Aman and his warriors reinforced by Kanakas attacked number of little villages of friendly natives near Kokingone, pillaging and burning them. They killed a chief named Tien, and the native king men, women and children fled to the mountains. Energetic measures have been started to stop the rebellion. A military contingent has been sent to the scene.
