MINING MEETINGS.

Bailer United.

The first annual general meeting of the Buller United Gold Mining and Dredging Company, Limited, was held at Wellington on Tuesday. The following gentlemen were elected as directors for the next twelve months : Dr. F. W, Mackenzie, Messrs Peter M'Ardle, William Parker, C. A. Ulrich, H. I. Hayns, John Sawcrs, and C. M'Keegan, Mr. E. M. Boulton was appointed secrotary in place of Mr. C. A. Ulrich, resigned. Mr. D. A. S. Cowper was re-elected as auditor. Erickson's Reward.

An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in the Erickson't Keward Gold Dredging company was held at Dunedin recently for the purpose of confirming resolutions to increase the capital of the company. Mr T. Ress (who occupied the chair) moved the confirmation of the following resolutions:—"That the capital of this company be increased to £IO,OOO by the creation of 2,000 additional ordinary shares of £leach. That the said shares will be issued at par. That the said new shares be first offered to the members of the company in proportion to the existing shares held by them. That the said new shares shall be payable as follows :-5s per share on application, 5s per share on allotment, and the balance in monthly calls of Is 6d per share." Mr J. H. Carter seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Great Woodstock.

The annual meeting of the above was held at Dunedin recently. Mr. Andrew Melville presided. The directors' report and balance-sheet were read. The balance-sheet showed that the uncalled capital amounts to £1,660, the unpaid calls to £2,553 15s, and ihe credit balance at the Bank to £267 ss. The expenses for the year, including flotation, have amounted to £759 4s M, and the liabilities are shown as £4,850 3s. The Chairman, in moving their adoption, said that the directors, being greatly disappointed with the results of boring the Great Woodstock claim, had sent one of their number (Mr. Steele) to the West Coast. He had found that the claim must be abandoned, but the vendors did their best for the company by offering another claim for £2OO. The directors thought the offer very fair, and accepted it. The further expense through the Woodstock being worthless was £312 extra to the pontoons contractor, £2OO for the new claim, and £154 for boring. After discussion, Mr. North, in seconding the motion, thanked the directors for their services to the company. They had worked hard in the company's interests, and had clone their work well.

The retiring directors (Messrs. Talboys, Leijon, and Steele) were re-elected, and the auditor (Mr. Wheeler) was also reelected at the same fee as before. Ahaura River. At an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in the Ahfturai River Gold Dredging Company, held at Dunedin reC3ntly, the following resolutions were moved by the Chairman, seconded re-* speotively by Messrs Burton, Bateman, Crawford, and Geddes, and carried unanimously :—(1) " That the capital of the company be increased from £B,OOO to 9,500 by the creation of 6,000 new shares of 5s each. (2) That the said new shares shall be issued at par. (3) That the said now shares be first offered to the members of the company in proportion to the existing shares hold by them. (4) That ihe said new shares shall be payable as follows :—ls per share on application, Is per share on allotment, and the balance in monthly calls of Is per share." i Those present at the meeting expressed their readiness to take up 1,100 of the new shares, and4t was intimated that a vendor of the claim, resident on t'ao West Coast, would take up 500 bringing the total up to 1,600 of the now issue.
