'Frisco Mail Steamers. Wellington, This Day. The 'Frisco mail agent reports that until further notice the mail steamers will leave Frisco at 10 o'clock on Thursday morning instead of Wednesday evening. The reason given for the change is that the steamers run too great a risk when leaving 'Frisco at night. The date of arrival at Auckland has not been altered, but in future the steamers will probably arrive at Auckland on Monday afternoon instead of the morning. On the 3rd instant the'piston of one of the low-pressuJe cylinders broke, and the vessel has run with both engines at compound pressure since. A man named James Pattermole aitempted suicide at German Bay, Akaroa, by stabbing himself.
