The Railway commissioners have appointed a board of experts from other states to make an independent enquiry into the Sydenham Railway accident. Drowned. Bbisbanb, May 7. A mission boat containing four black boys capsized on Woody Island and all were drowned.
Smallpox. Melboubnb, May 7. J Tha steamer Darius has arrived from Calcutta. She reports a mild case of smallpox aboard. The patient, an Indian of the mess room, is named Boyil, Bitten by a Tiger. Sydney, This Day. At White and Wirths circus of Wellington, • Carl Wirth was putting the tigers through the performance when he was severely bitten in tho leg. An employer succeeded Wirth but he also was bitten. Census of Westralia. Perth, This Day. The Census shows the population of Westralia to be 182,553.
