LABOR DISPUTES.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, May 1
The consideration of tho dispute in connection with the boot trade, was concluded before tho Arbitration Court this afternoon. Tho Court will now take time to consider tho award.
Before the case was finished, Frostiek, President of the Federated Employers Assocation, said that whatever tho Court might have done it had helped to bring about the great good feeling which had prevailed throughout the hearing of the case between the employers and the workers. The union delegates endorsed these remarks.
The most of the evidence taken to-day wont to prove that tho industry is suffering greatly from importations, especially from America, and could not boar the strain of extra wages or of shorter hours.
Tho dispute in connection, with the ironmoulders’ industry is to bo taken when the court resumes to-morrow morning.
Several other disputes are yet to be considered, and it is not likely that the court will finish its sittings hare for at least 10 days.
