The Waihi Case. Waihi, This Day.
The Board of Conciliation examined Shelgar the underground manager of the Jubilee Mine, re-dismissal of Humphreys. Witness declared that the dismissal was not due to Humphreys giving evidence to the Board, but because he was away too long and failed to report himself necessitating the employing of another hand. The Colliers’ Dispute.
Dunedin, This Day. The Board of Conciliation gave its decision in the Kaitangata dispute. The minimum wage is £2 16s per week ; minimum, 7s per day; time anda-half on Sundays. In the Shag Point dispute the Board decided that trucking by miners was not to be over 75 yards, and for every 25 yards or part of 25 yards beyond that distance, the miner Ito be paid 4d extru per ton. A miner is not responsible for his road one chain from face.
