Received this day at 937 a m. London, April 28. A thousand Boxers are raiding Sooth. Paotingfu. Another strong band threatens the Gorman garrison at Manoheng. These are the worst class of Chinese, and threaten to exterminate converts when the Allies depart. Pedcards at Pekin urge the expulsion of foreigners by the middle of May.
Received this day, at 8 43 a m. London, April 28. The Dowager Empress has appointed a Board of National administration including Prince Clung, Li Hung Chang in order to relieve her of public functions. The authorities at Washington inter* pret this as a prelude to retirement.
The Germans defeated the Chinese with heavy loss at Haiohankwan, forcing them to retire at Shensi.
The Chinese offored the Indian officers two cart loads of silver if they would conceal the discovery of Krupp guns.
