Chas Edward for Westport. IN FOBX Clyde Petone Pareora . The Wainui arrived at 6 30 last night and sailed at six this morning on return journey. The Herald aYrived off the bar last nig but the sea is to heavy for work today. She sails on Monday for Onehunga, The Corinna leaves Taranaki to-day and arrives at Grey to-morrow sailing on Monday for Westport, Timaru, Oamaru and Dunedin. The Eosamond arrives from Lyttelton to-morrow and sails for same port on Wednesday with timber. leaves Wellington to-day and Westport at 9 on Monday morning for Grey. She sails again on Tuesday morning on return journey.. The Janet Nicoll leaves Wellington at noon on Monday for Grey via Westport arriving here on Tuesday night. She sails on Wednesday for Bluff and Dunedin. This is the first steamer to inaugurate the short service between the East Coast and Grey. A curious order has just been issued by the British Admiralty. It appears that many sailors have been in the habit of wearing steel stretchers in their caps, and that instances have been reported of these stretchers becoming strongly magnetised, and when worn close to the ship's compasses, deflecting the needle to a dangerous extent. The wearing of such stretchers is therefore forbidden in future.
