The Artisan is roughly valued at ten thousand pounds. The crew are housed by residents in the vicinity of the wreck and in tents.
With the exception of a number of Filipinos—who were paralysed with fear —the crow and captain’s wife behaved splendidly throughout the terrible experience. There is no further news of the George Hay though the gale has moderated somewhat. The sea is too rough for tugs to render assistance.
The Rocket Corps aae in readiness to render assistance if they are required. Received this day at 1012 a.m. Hobart, This Day.
The barquentine Mary Wadloy and ke'ch Priscilla were driven ashore during the gale. The Mary Wadley will probably become a total wreck.
Melbourne, April 25. All arriving vessels report terrible weather.
