Yassel fishore at Gapa Patterson jVleibottene, April 23. The gale continues unabated. A large ship (name unknown) is ashore at Capo Patterson. The accounts regarding the supposed wreck are meagre and conflicting. Two messages were received at Quecnscliffe from different sources ; one stated that a large ship was ashore at Cape Patterson ; the second that the ship Ceorge Hay, from New York to Sydney, is in distress and in a perilous position off Cape Woolamai. It is believed that both refer to the George Hay, and that she went ashore in the forenoon.
Owing to this and the fact that the gale is still raging it will not be possible to send assistance before morning, when a tug with a lifeboat will leave tor the scene.
