Terrific Rains and Floods.
Bridges Washed Away.
Loss of Life
Received this day at 9 27 a.m. Mbluournk, April 21. The gale continues and tho torrential rains are causing much damage. The Yarra is higher than for years, and the low lying suburbs along the river are flooded.
At Abbotsford the residents refuged in the upper stories. The rain is seriously delaying the Federal decorations.
At some of the stations in the country the rain is a record. Six inches of rain fell in 24 hours. The rivers are in high flood. Many of' the railway bridges are washed away. On the Korumburra lino the passengers wero taken from the township in boats.
The village settlement of Kooweerup township is unler water. Three bridges are destroyed and much stock drowned. At Werribeo a man and son, named White, camped noar the river, were drowned.
The Government astronomer predicts a worse flood in the Tarra than in 1891.
Very stormy weather along the Coa3t and the shipping is sheltering.
The telegraph lines are interrupted owing to the gaie.
Ho3AET, April 24. There is tempestuous weather and heavy rain throughout the Island.
