[per press association.] Twelve Months for Fraud. • Wellington, April 20. James Herbert Evans, who was before the Police Court yesterday on ten charges of impudent frauds from local tradesmen was to-day sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. On one charge he was sentenced to three months, and each of the others terms to run concurrent. Remounts for Africa. The Agricultural Department has been requested by the Imperial authorities to send another shipment of remounts to South Africa. English Veterinarians. Three more veterinarians for the Agricultural Department—Taylor, Robertson and Hawthorne—arrived to-day from London. Sequel to a Civil Action. In the perjury case against R. W. Hood and las wife of Hanmer Springs, arising out of the civil case in which accused declared and said that certain cheques were paid to a domestic servant, whereas they were paid to other people. Both were committed for trial. Bail of £3OO was allowed each and sureties of £l5O each. Divoi’ce Case. In the Divorce Court in the suit of Neill v. Neill, the Chief Justice to-day made a rule absolute,
