THE ROYAL VISIT.

(BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPT EIGHT.)

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

Singapore, April 21. The Ophir and her escort arrived at 7 o’clock this morning, all well. The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and party land at 10 o’clock.

(per press association)

Dunedin, April 20. , The Mayor had a long conference with Lord Ranfurly, and submitted the suggested programme of events for the visit of the Duke and Duchess of York, the programme was considerably curtailed. The Duke will not open the Winter Show and there are many difficulties to oveiccmo before His Excellency can approve of bis laying the foundation stone of the Queen’s statue. The Volunteer review at Forbury is out of the question. The proposal that the Duchess should name a cot in the childrens' ward at the Hospital was ruled out as it was not at all certain whether the Eoyal party will come overand or by steamer.

It is understood that the Earl of Hopetoun and the Countess of Hopotoun will accompany their Eoyal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York on their visit to Yew Zealand. The address which is to be presented to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall on their arrival at Auckland will be an elaborate and characteristic production, representing the colony by its industries, resources, scenery, flora, etc. Mr. Lambert, the artist who is preparing the address, prepared the address to Her Majesty the late Queen, on the occasion of her jubilee, from the Christchurch City Council. Her Majesty signified her appreciation of its artistic merits in a despatch from Lord Knutsford, then Secretary of State for the Colonies, in which his Lordship said:—“Hei Majesty has specially admired the taste displayed in the graceful illuminations of this handsomely-framed address.”
