BLOOD COST OF THE WAR.
The War Office has issued tho total of the casualties reported since the beginning of the war up to the end of January. Tho following are the figures, the totals reported up to including tho month : Killed in action : 334 officers, 3,346 norij corns, and men. Died of wounds: 103 officers, 1,081 noncoms, and men. Prisoners who have died in captivity: 4 officers, 92 non corns, and men. Died of disease: 188 officers, 7,605 noncoms, and men. Accidental deaths: 6 officers, 230 noncoms, and men. Total deaths in South Africa: 635 offi cers, 12,354 non-coms, and men* Missing and prisoners (including those who have been recovered or have died in captivity ; 15 officers, 922 non-coms, and men. Sent home as invalids ; 1,703 officers, 30,095 non-coms, and men. Total reduction of military forces through war in South Africa ; Deaths in South Africa; 635 officers and 12,354 non-coms, and men. Missing and prisoners ; 15 officers and 922 non-coms, and men. Invalids sent home who have died; 4 officers and 265 non-coms, and men. Invalids sent home who have left the service as unfit; No officers, 1,734 noncoms, and men Total; 654 officers, 15,275 non-coms, and men. Grand agreegate ; 15,929.
