THE ROYAL VISIT.

Some difficulty is being experienced in arriving at a route for the procession on the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York. Tho route proposed by the Citizen's Committee was considered by tho Governor to bo much too long and. another shorter route.was proposed and submitted to his Excellency who still considered it too long, and suggested that tho procession should follow tho same route as he did when he landed in 1897. At a meeting of citizens to-day it was considered desirable to make tho route longer than was proposed by the Governor. It was stated tho route proposed by tho Governor, which was a mile and three quarters long, would accomodate 80,000 people. The committee was appointed to wait upon the Governor and urge his acceptance of a longer routs. It was decided to open subscription lists for funds to augment the £2OOO provided by tho Government and City Council. The Committee was also recommended fo erect platforms for tho accommodation of children. Cheistciiurch, April 11. The Executive accepted Mr S. Hurst Seager's designs for decorating the City with avenues of colours and bays for tableaux of industries, Friendly and other societies. There will bo no procession except ths Royal carriages. The decorations are estimated to cost £SOOO.
