LAND FOR SETTLEMENTS ACT. IMPROVED FARMS FOR LEASE. HATDMA SETTLEMENT, HAWKE’S 8AY—25,737 acres, divided into fifty-four sections, for disposal in lease in perpetuity, of areas varying from 111 acres to 774 acres, rentals from 4s 3d to 8s 4d per acre per annum ; and four small grazing runs for lease for twenty-one years with right of renewal, of areas varying from 1,134 acres to 1,509 acres, rentals from 3s 3d to 6s 2d per acre per annum. The Hatuma Settlement is situated in one of the finest districts in the North Island, fifty miles south of Napier, on Main Trunk Railway close to Waipukurau, and nine miles from Waipawa. The land is open, of goed quality, the downs and flats adapted for general agriculture and dairy farming; depth of soil, from 6in to 12in, on clay subsoil. The small grazing runs comprise well watered limestone ranges, suitable for mixed farming, Open for application at Napier and Waipawa, on 25th April, 1901. KOHIKA SETTLEMENT, SOUTH CANTERBURY. —3,832 acres divided into fifteen sections, for disposal on lease in perpetuity, in areas varying from 139 acres to 391 acres at rentals from 5s 9d to 9s 4d per acre per annum. This settlement is part of the well known Otaio Estate, formerly owned by Mr Teschemaker ; is situated between Timaru and Waimate, twenty miles from the former town and eleven miles from the latter. Land well adapted for mixed farming ; in good heart; has produced heavy crops of wheat, and up to 60 bushels of oats to the acre. Depth of strong black soil, 7in to Sin. Climate temperate ; sufficient rainfall for general farming. Open for application, at Christchurch and Timaru, on 13th May, 1901. MANGAWHATA SETTLEMENT, WELLINGTON (formerly known as Morrison’s Estate). —1,226 acres, divided into seven sections, from 12s 9d to 15s per acre per annum. This settlement is situated between Rongotea and Oroua Bridge Railway Station, in a prosperous district, near important townships. The land is first-class, comprising grassed flats suitable for dairy farming and fattening s ock. Open for application, at Wellington and Palmerston North, on Tuesday, 14th May, 1901.
