GREY MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

Wednesday, April lOtii,

(Before E. S. Hawkins S.M.)

T. Joyce v Brimhlc. Judgment summons for £OO for rent. Evidence in this case was reported in a former issue. The Magistrate gave an order for the payment of amount forthwith holding the opinion that the defendant had got or could get sufficient money as his share out of the estate of the late James Brimble to liquidate the debt. A charge preferred against a youth for lavcency of a watch, was withdrawn, the Magistrate, after hearing the Inspector of Police upon the matter, holding that no theft was involved in the case, it being merely a question of detention. M. Hartigan. Shannan and Hob, were charged with the theft of a bottle of wine and raspberry from Jones’ Hotel at Brunner. Mr Hannan appeared for the accused —Shannan. The evidence in this ease showed that a dispute arose as to the payment of drinks and two bottles were stated by Mr Jones to be missing shortly after their departure. Apparently the accused wore somewhat under the influence of drink and no two agreed in regard to the bottles. The Magistrate fined Shannon and Hartigan £2 each and 4s 6d Court costs. The charge against Eobb was dismissed.
