SLAUGHTERING AND INSPECTION ACT REGULATIONS.

Wellington, April 7. Regulations under the Slaughtering and Inspection Act will appear in the Gazette. They provide for the' regulation and licensing of all slaughter-houses, and that for purposes of licensing the colony is to be divided into nine distiiets. Ex isting licenses are to continue in force until the 30th June next, but the local authority concerned must, before issuing any licenses, transmit an application for the approval of the Minister for Agriculture. Brands are to be affixed to every car ease, whether intended for local consumption or export, and tinned meat must also be stamped. The fee for (ha registration of an abbatolr h £5, and for a license there is an annual ff e of £l, Inspection fees for live stock and meat at slaughterhouses are fixed at 4d for every head of ca;Le, and 3£d for every twelve (or fraction of lw< Ive) calves, fiieep, or pigs. Whore the tot d amount of inspection fees paid in twelve months does not amount to £2OO that sum is required to bo made up with the last payment.
