The rapid increase of money in the New Zealand Savings Bank, coupled with the general prosperity in the colony, has induced the Government to attempt the issue of a half-miliion loan in New Zealand under the Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Act of last session. In our advertising

columns it will bo seen that the Colonial Treasurer is now inviting tenders for £500,000 worth of 4 per cent, debentures, and of the face value of fIOOOj £500,. £2OO, and £IOO, as may bo desired. Those debentures will be secured on the public revenues, and will be payable on the Ist of April, 1904, either at the Treasury, or at the Agent-General’s office in London. The minimum issue price for the loan has been fixed at £IOO per cent., and no lower tender will bo received, and tho price to be paid is as follows Deposit of 5 per cent, on application ; first instalment of 45 per cent, on 7th May, 1901 ; second instalment of 60 per cent, on 4th June, 1901. Foment may be made in full, however, at any time between 7th May and 4th June, at a discount of £1 10s per cent, per annum. Interest will be payable on Ist April and Ist October in each year during the currency of the loan. Sealed tenders, which must bo on printed forms, accompanied by 6 per cent, deposit, should be received by the Secretary to the Treasury by noon of Tuesday, 23rd April.
