GREYMOUTH LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Messrs G. W. Moss and Co report yesterday’s sale at Preston yards as follows : The entry consisted of 40 cattle and 140 sheep from the Grey Valley, 108 sheep from Hokitika district, all of which were cleared at late ruling rates. We placed the following stock : Pat .Cattle —On account of Mr A. M‘Hardy, 28 prime quality bullocks from £7 for light weights to £lO 17s Od for heavy weights, averaging £8 10s. On account of Mr llyan, 7 prime handy weights from £7 os to £7 17s Od, averaging £7 15s. On account of clients 13 heifers from £4 2s Od to £7. Fat Sheep —On account of Mr W. J. Coates, 50 prime crossbreds 19s 9d. On account of Mr O’Malley, 48 crossbreds ewes, 16s 9d. On account of Mr John M'Gregor, 250 fat ewes and wethers, 2504 and 0 tooth breeding ewes privately at current rates.
Fat Lambs—On account of Mr W. J. Coates, 21 at 13s. On account of Mr O’Malley 18 at 13s 9d. On account of Mr Bellew at 12s.
Fat and Store Pigs—On account of clients, 34 at £2 15s for baooners, £1 10s to £2 prime porkers, 8s 6d for suckers.
Wo held a sale of horses at Ashton’s stables placing two draught horses, 1 fouryear old, at £4l; 1 aged at £25.
Mark Sprot and Co. report their sale at Preston road yesterday:—Owing to the non arrival of the stock boat our usual supply of beef was not to hand. The yarding of fat stock was small, but equal to requirements: values of beef were slightly easier, but mutton rates were well maintained. Wo sole on account of Mrs Ferguson, 150 prime crossbred downs at 17s 6d. On account of a client, 60 store pigs from 85s to 13s.
